What Designed AI Can Do

Instructional designers have always lived at this intersection — translating subject matter expertise into experiences that build understanding. They are the principal creators in the learning industry. When they add AI design skills to that foundation, their work becomes harder to replicate, not easier to replace.

When AI is deployed without structure, guardrails, or subject matter expertise, that reflects a leadership decision — not a tooling limitation. Someone decides whether learning systems will be intentional or improvised, disciplined or expedient.

Leaders decide whether AI is treated as a shortcut or a capability. Whether standards are enforced or assumed. Whether learning experiences are authored with defined intent or left to chance.
